Nola's journey begins in the picturesque Domleschg Valley, nestled in the heart of Graubünden, Switzerland. This is where my love for the outdoors was born, inspired by the wild and untamed Nolla Creek. The creek, with its lively energy and rich history, captures the essence of our brand: a passion for adventure, a love for nature, and a commitment to quality.

This place holds a special meaning for me, not just because of its rugged beauty, but because it connects to someone who shaped my love for the outdoors - my grandfather. He grew up in the Heinzenberg and Thusis area and was one of the key people who introduced me to the mountains, showing me the thrill of mountaineering and, most importantly, teaching me not to take life too seriously. With him, the outdoors wasn't about conquering the highest peaks or chasing records. It was about enjoying the journey, breathing in the crisp mountain air, and having a great time along the way.

The name "Nola" pays tribute to these cherished experiences and the spirit of the Nolla Creek. Originally pronounced "Nolla," we tweaked the name slightly, dropping one “l” to make it "Nola" for a smoother sound and better international appeal. This name embodies the rhythm of the Swiss mountains, the charm of nature, and the spirit of adventure.

It’s rooted in the Rhaeto-Romanic language of the Swiss mountains of Graubünden, where it translates to "l'Anuogl". In German, it is known as "der Nolla."

The Nolla Creek, a mountain stream that begins at Glasspass, a small pass connecting Cazis and Thusis in the Domleschg Valley via Heinzenberg to Safien-Platz in the Safiental valley. It was used to take cows to the market in Thusis. The creek flows for 10 kilometers, descending 1’200 meters before merging with the Hinterrhein
River at Thusis.
